WORLD OF BEAUTY & SPA: a springboard to the Czech and Eastern European market.

Almost three hundred stands, some 330 exhibitors and more than 450 brand names were on show at the spring round of the international trade fair for cosmetics, hairdressing, wellness and healthy living at Výstaviště in the Prague district of Holešovice. For the first time the fair also featured cooperation with the Czech Ministry for Local Development in the sphere of wellness. Traditional interest in the fair was once again proved by the visit rates - with around 20,000 people attending. This above all comprised specialists and businesspeople with considerably fewer from the general public who are often people interested in specialist services as well as those interested in re-qualifying for work in the area.

The WORLD OF BEAUTY & SPA trade fair has assumed the position of leading trade fair in its sector. The factors contributing to its success include the clear structuring of individual spheres, amongst which include professional cosmetics and bio-cosmetics, equipment to improve your complexion and figure, manicures, hand and nail decoration, pedicure, hair care and styling, wellness, spas, healthy living and direct sales of decorative cosmetics and accessories. Many foreign exhibitors have now found Czech representatives with the best foreign products represented coming from countries including Germany, France, Italy, Poland, Switzerland, Russia and Turkey.

It goes without saying that a major factor in alluring so many visitors is the winning formula of the supporting programme which exists on several levels, from specialist workshops and lectures primarily devoted to the wellness sphere, dermatology, hints on how to get great complexion and a figure to die for to an introduction of forthcoming trends by leading makeup artists, hair stylists and fashion designers. Championship competitions also form an integral part of the programme.

The highlight of the specialist programme this time round was the theme of wellness. PhDr. Blažena Křížová, Director of the Tourism Department at the Ministry for Regional Development, informed specialists of the significance of this subject with regard to  tourism and referred to the classification being prepared about places offering wellness services. Experts from the Wellness Association, Jan Bejdák and Petr Pospíšil, spoke on the topic of active sales in wellness centres, effective communication with customers, and team management in a wellness centre. A "dermoparty" was held with the cooperation of dermatologists and cosmeticians, which this year examined face fillers, botox and plastic surgery.

The very popular topic of massages offered a host of regenerative and relaxing massages carried out by specialists cooperating from the Palestra school, the internet portal maséři.cz, the Association of Workers in Regeneration and the Association of Aroma Therapists CR.

Among the most prominent competitions at the fair included the Creative Image Team competition for makeup artists and hairdressers, a photo-makeup competition, the junior makeup and hairstyling championship finals, and a whole range of nail competitions: the Czech Championships and the International Championships in Nail Art, stamping nail art, manicures and tip box.

The organisation of the WORLD OF BEAUTY & SPA trade fairs, which take place twice a year (spring and autumn), is integrally linked to the close cooperation of a network of partners, associations and the media. This comprises the following: the Union of Cosmeticians, the PROKOS Association, the Czech Wellness Association, the Association of Workers in Regeneration, the Association of Aroma Therapists of the CR, and the Czech Podiatry Association, and from media partners the magazines Linda, Hairstyling and Cosmetic Practice, Profinehty, StudioZone, Estetika, Meduňka, Beauty Salon, Hair & Beauty, Hotel & Spa, Sport & wellness, 40+  my generation, the publishing house  Burda (Katka, World of Women), and many radio stations, television stations and websites for women, beauty and  healthy living.

There has also been expansion in terms of cooperation with  foreign partners: the magazines Kosmetik International, the publisher RedSpa, the trade fairs Vivaness, Kosmetik International Messe, Haare, Salon Jesien, Salon Wiosna, Beauty International, Interbeauty Bratislava, Beauty Eurasia, etc.
